Who are we?

Marie Hart

Creator, Creative Director, Writer, Art Department, Half-Asian Daughter (IYKYK- lol)

Marie modeled Tiny Grandma after her mom. “My mom is a character in real life. She is constantly feeding everyone and giving my kids cash. When I finished graduate school, she told everyone I was a doctor. I’m not a doctor.”

Marie has been in Philly since the 90’s she has a BFA from UArts in Crafts (RIP) and a MLA from the University of Pennsylvania. She and Pete founded unPOP Studios. She makes beautiful things with a computer and with a glue gun.

Peter Heacock

Creator, Animator, Editor, Writer, All around good guy

Pete learned to cook Korean food when Pete and Marie got married. It started with wanting to make a better Thanksgiving turkey for the Asian family (they had an extra-large crockpot just for Thanksgiving- it made a very wet turkey), and grew into learning to make the perfect Kimchi to impress the aunts.

Pete grew up just across the Ben Franklin Bridge from Philadelphia. Pete has a BFA in film from NYU. He is an award winning documentary filmmaker, and social video director. He founded unPOP studios 2012.

Tiny Grandma

The Original

Tiny Grandma looks like my mom. But she is modeled after my mom, my Halmi, my many aunts and cousins. I grew up surrounded by Korean women.

My family came to the United States in the late 70s. I (Marie) was the first one born on US soil.

My mom currently runs a sports bar in a small town in PA. She has no idea how to operate the internet. She has a cat named Sunny (the third Sunny all orange obviously).
